Assistant Manager - Retail/Creative Small Business (Part-time)

Assistant Manager (Part-time) with Strong Organizational and Interpersonal Skills Needed in Creative Retail & Design Boutique.

Shawn Sargent Designs is a unique space in thriving downtown Glen Ellyn, IL. We offer handcrafted home goods, gifts and accessories in our retail store as well as creative classes, on-site production and studio rentals.

We are looking for a motivated individual with an entrepreneurial spirit who is excited to be an integral part of this growing business. The Assistant Manager will help the owner in all aspects of running our store and small business. Ideal person can quickly adapt to our fast-changing needs and work hands-on to improve and implement effectivesystems and organization.

Starting at 15-20 hours per week, with the potential to develop into a full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists in improving and implementing retail and operational processes and organization for growing company.

  • Sets an example and maintains a healthy workplace culture with positive, principled leadership and communication.

  • Helps to provide professional management of store operations and support our positive image in the marketplace.

  • Ensures our company core values, brand standards and procedures are adhered to on a consistent basis and that our operations run smoothly.

  • Able to perform at a high level without constant supervision, but also thrives in a team environment.

  • Manages tasks and goals efficiently to keep staff and production on track and meet deadlines.

  • Assists with marketing efforts, retail store and trade show coverage at times.

  • Effectively switches gears between small tasks and managerial responsibilities.

  • Ability to help move fixtures, boxes and inventory as needed for store displays and workspaces.

  • Self-motivated to learn about our products, designs, campaign promotions, production process and the marketplace.

  • Builds positive relationships with vendors, acquires new products and works with owner to develop designs to promote and grow SSD brand.

  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of spreadsheets and point-of-sale (POS) systems.

  • Possesses enthusiasm for working with creative designs, handmade goods and artistic endeavors.

  • Maintains integrity and a professional attitude within our small, fun and creative environment.

  • Effectively maneuvers around sales floor and stockroom (bending, standing, stooping, climbing) and lift and carry up to 35 lbs.

  • Ability to work weekends, nights and holidays.

Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn Excel, Pages, Constant Contact, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and ability to manage photos and content for website and social media is a plus.

Experienced Retail Sales person wanted for specialty boutique in thriving downtown Glen Ellyn, IL.

Shawn Sargent Designs is a creative space offering handcrafted home goods, gifts and accessories in our retail store as well as classes, on-site production and studio rentals.

We are looking for an outgoing, savvy sales/retail person for a part-time role who is excited to be an integral part of this growing business. Ideal person is motivated to provide a superior guest experience to maximize sales and profit and manage multiple responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists customers to ensure they have a welcoming and personalized experience at all times to build a loyal following

  • Explains features and benefits of our unique product linesby offering in-depth product knowledge

  • Helps to create and maintain a visually inspiring boutique environment that is compelling to our guests

  • Self-motivated to learn about our products, designs, campaign promotions, production process and the marketplace

  • Represents SSD's core values and brand standards throughout all communications

  • Is able to balance our guest experience with necessary operational tasks

  • Assists with custom and online orders, shipping and light production as needed

  • Performs store opening/closing procedures and works with POS systems

  • Works closely with the owner, staff and team members to maintain a positive, fun and professional work environment

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience in a specialty retail store

  • Excellent customer service with positive and engaging attitude

  • Excellent organization skills; able to execute tasks efficiently

  • Possess enthusiasm forworking with creative designs, handmade goods and artistic endeavors

  • Strong merchandising and visual skills

  • Proactive and creative problem solving ability
